UNS Canteloupe is a Pioneer-class vessel built at Deimos over nineteen years (2111–2130). Unlike the single-ring habitat modules of earlier Pioneer-class vessels (Shennong and Boreas), Canteloupe is constructed as multiple nested Stanford tori — independently rotating ring habitats designed to house approximately 5,000 people. It remains Kuzmin-drive powered. Commanded by Dr. Lars O’Connor, a CAI selection. Its colonist complement (~85% Earth-origin, 10% Luna, 5% Mars) was drawn from a 2127 UN recruitment drive that drew over 580,000 applicants. As of 2130, Canteloupe is staged at Ceres awaiting Tsiolkovsky’s Neptune findings; its ultimate destination remains formally undecided, though Secretary-General Faramund has floated Pluto colonization as a possibility.
