Aphrodite — the Venusian cloud-layer habitat operated by Hesperus Initiative. Home to 428 people as of 2142, against Hesperus’s 2100 recruitment figures of over 40,000 — roughly one recruit in a hundred actually living and working at Venus forty-two years later. Maintenance crews visit unmanned orbital antimatter production facilities on a weekly-to-monthly rotation. Named for Aphrodite Terra, one of Venus’s major highland regions.
By 2164 the resident population had passed 4,000, with new settlers arriving from Earth under Hesperus’s standing recruitment programme; the first Omani-flagged luxury hotel at Venus opened that year within the operating volume, and several independent gas-extraction operations have since licensed in the same volume. The matured antimatter production — roughly 12 kilograms in 2164 — supplies the Antimatter Bond surplus funding the UN’s Jovian He-3 platform programme from 2165. The 2165 Colonial Census recorded ~5,500 residents — the smallest major settlement by population and the highest-value industrial site per resident.
