Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system and the site of the UN’s suspended He-3 extraction platform programme, announced in October 2165 — the first step toward drawing on the atmosphere’s estimated 4.4 × 10¹⁹ tonnes of He-3 (a helium mass fraction of approximately 23.4 percent and a ³He/⁴He ratio of roughly 1:10,000, per Galileo probe measurements), against roughly one million tonnes recoverable in the lunar regolith. Fourteen high-concentration zones were surveyed between 2161 and 2165; six were rated suitable for initial placement, with the first hexagonal platform — 600 metres across the flats, displacing roughly 140,000 tonnes, buoyant below the radiation belts — scheduled for 2170.

Jupiter’s gravity well is the programme’s stated constraint; the skyhook architecture and relocatable platforms are intended to answer it, with the same units expected to operate later at Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Its moons include Ganymede — the farm colony and first settlement beyond cislunar space with a dedicated local CAI core (2129) — Europa, site of the first confirmed extraterrestrial life, and Callisto, under the no-fly regime declared in 2104.
