MET 186:22:04 — ASTROMETRICS: Beginning long-range imaging pass on Styx and Kerberos per survey plan. Both bodies smaller and considerably more irregular than New Horizons-era estimates suggested, but that’s within expected revision range for a flyby that never resolved either one past a few pixels.
MET 189:04:17 — ASTROMETRICS: Something’s wrong with the surface composition readings on Styx. Spectral return isn’t consistent with any natural rock or ice signature in the catalogue. Requesting XENOARCHAEOLOGY review before I log this as instrument error.
MET 189:41:52 — XENOARCHAEOLOGY: Reviewed. It’s not instrument error. The reflectance profile matches processed alloy, not mineral composition — consistent across roughly sixty percent of Styx’s surface area. The remaining forty percent reads as more conventional rock and ice. Working hypothesis: Styx isn’t a moon with debris on it. Styx is debris that accreted a moon’s worth of surrounding material around it, or on it, over a very long period.
MET 190:15:33 — NOVÁK: [SIGNAL DEGRADED, 3 SEC] — Say that again, plainly, for the log.
MET 190:15:48 — XENOARCHAEOLOGY: Commander, we believe Styx and, pending confirmation, Kerberos are not natural satellites. They are the remains of one or more artificial structures, likely vessels given the alloy signature, that have been sitting in this orbital configuration long enough to have been gravitationally rounded and partially buried under accreted material. We are looking at wreckage, not moons.
MET 191:02:10 — ASTROMETRICS: Kerberos confirms. Same alloy signature, different structural pattern — looks like a separate piece, not matched debris from the same original object. At minimum two distinct sources.
MET 197:38:09 — ASTROMETRICS: Redirecting primary sensor array to Charon per Commander’s instruction, following up on the anomaly gradient correlation.
MET 198:14:22 — ASTROMETRICS: [SIGNAL DEGRADED, 9 SEC] — Commander, I need you on this channel directly.
MET 198:14:41 — NOVÁK: Go ahead.
MET 198:14:47 — ASTROMETRICS: There’s an object in orbit around Charon’s far side. Artificial, structurally intact, and it is not small. Preliminary sizing puts it well beyond anything in any registered UN or Colonial Development construction record — this is not one of ours, and it is not a natural formation. It reads as rotating, slowly, on an axis that does not match Charon’s own rotational plane.
MET 198:16:03 — XENOARCHAEOLOGY: Confirmed independently. Structure is intact, not debris like Styx and Kerberos. Whatever destroyed the source objects for those two bodies did not touch this one.
MET 198:19:55 — NOVÁK: And the anomaly?
MET 198:20:14 — ASTROMETRICS: Correlating gradient strength against object range and bearing now — [SIGNAL DEGRADED, 5 SEC] — confirmed, Commander. The interference gradient we’ve been tracking since past Uranus centers precisely on this structure’s position, not on Pluto or Charon themselves. Field strength scales with proximity to the object, not with proximity to either body.
MET 198:21:02 — XENOARCHAEOLOGY: For the record — this is consistent with a functioning system, not a derelict one. A wreck doesn’t usually keep producing a field this coherent for however long this has been sitting here. Whatever this is, some part of it may still be doing what it was built to do.
MET 198:22:47 — NOVÁK: Log everything, full sensor archive, priority transmission queued for Boreas relay the moment we’re in range. All hands to alert status. I want eyes on that structure and eyes on our six at the same time.
