Roscosmos State Corporation — the Soviet Union’s state space corporation. Held the exclusive manufacturing patent for the Kuzmin Drive from 2062 until the Roscosmos v. Novaya Zarya Propulsion Cooperative ruling in August 2122, when the Luna Interplanetary Court ordered establishment of a standing licensing framework on fair and non-discriminatory terms. Had previously granted a single bilateral license to China under the Kaluga Protocol (2068) for the Ceres mission. Acquired Novaya Zarya’s nested-shell containment patent at bankruptcy auction and incorporated the design into its first post-monopoly commercial engine line (2123). The head of Roscosmos framed the decision not to appeal the court’s ruling with the widely quoted observation that the corporation risked “slowly becoming the old America” it had spent a century opposing.
