UNS Vigilant — a Vanguard-class battleship of the UN Strategic Fleet Command. On 9 September 2168 it ended the Demeter raid, the largest single pirate action on record: coming up from the ecliptic on the twenty-seven-hull pirate mass, it broadcast a one-line stand-down demand, destroyed the fleeing pirate command hull with a single directed-energy strike, and accepted the surrender of the remaining twenty-six — the action lasting eleven minutes from first contact. The beam weapon’s use was the second public combat account after UNS Tsiolkovsky’s Pluto engagement of December 2131.
