Dr. Leila Moradi is a microbiologist at the University of Tehran, Department of Microbiology, and co-corresponding author, with Prof. Sato Emiko of Kyoto University, of the Chryseobacterium hylae discovery paper (2032). Her group originally isolated the organism during an amphibian symbiont cataloguing project in northern Iran; the isolate’s oncolytic activity was discovered serendipitously when it showed unexpected activity against a co-cultured malignant cell line during routine contamination-control testing.
The joint Kyoto–Tehran programme received no external commercial funding, continuing the Iranian research gatekeeping tradition established by INCRI’s IMIP-7 programme (2026).
Moradi is the second named Iranian medical researcher in the Era I record, following the INCRI team behind IMIP-7.
