Google DeepMind is an American artificial intelligence research laboratory and one of two frontier AI organisations (alongside Anthropic) to survive the sector-wide correction of the late 2020s with its research programme functionally intact. Like Anthropic, DeepMind diversified early into revenue lines independent of the AGI narrative — including enterprise infrastructure and cloud integration — while deprioritising the most compute-hungry corners of its research roadmap.
A Google spokesperson, asked about the OpenAI bankruptcy, offered only that the company “remains committed to long-term, fundamentals-driven research.”
